Let's Talk About Tattoos

Thu Sep 3, 2009, 6:59 PM
It's been a while.

So what has changed? I'm in college now, as a few of you know, and I love it so far. I'm focusing on Culture Studies but I would love to include some creative writing courses.

Anyway. I'm ajusting to being away. It's not painful for me to be gone but I do get the occasional pangs for home. Thats what breaks are for I suppose...

Speaking of breaks! For my birthday I am going home and I plan to get a tattoo to celebrate my (relative) adulthood. I have thought long and hard about what to get and I am not one of those that would get a meaningless rose or stars. I want something I am proud of having and that will hopefully make people think a bit.

The final decision? A prayer.

May I find the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom always to know the difference.

I read it in Slaughterhouse-Five and while I can't say I enjoyed the book, this quotation continued to pop into my head whenever I was feeling stressed or out of control this summer. I changed it a bit because I am not comfortable with asking God, a presence I don't beleive in, for help, however most of the lines are from the text.

Any opinions? Also does anyone know a person on DA who would design it for me?
