Books turned movies

Wed Feb 11, 2009, 9:47 PM
Fight Club.

I read the book a while ago but I just saw the movie.

It blew my mind.

I have been a fan of Chuck Palahniuk since I read Haunted around three years ago and pretty much fell in love. It is the language he uses. There is nothing comfy about his writing and every word choice simply adds to the discomfort. I love that feeling and any book that provides that squeamish grit is usually first to be praised by me. Stuff like Clockwork Orange, Turn of the Screw, Lord of the Flies, and Equus. I need more books like these.

There is also the movie Catch-22. The book has been my favorite since a couple summers ago (I have strange taste in beach reading). I convinced my sister to do a project on Joseph Heller, during which she must read a few of his books. She is more of a Twilight kind of person so when she said Catch-22 was impossible to get through I kind of understood. So I purchased the movie for her then stole it for myself. It's not half bad. Milo looks EXACTLY like I pictured him and all the actors all were exceptional at delivering their dialogue. The only thing I didn’t get was the exclusion of Dunbar. Dunbar was one of my favorite characters soooo why no Dunbar?

Anyway. That’s were I'm at right now.
